They've done it!
This summer, the Centre Street Church Women's Group set out to raise funds to send Bibles to Cuba. Their goal was $3000, and they exceeded it! Their gifts will provide more than 600 Bibles to people who currently do not have even one personal copy of God's Word to read and study.
The donation page for their fundraiser is HERE if you'd like to learn more.
Great job for a great purpose, women of CSC! May God bless and multiply your gifts for His glory!

CHURCH BUILDING WILL BE CONFISCATED
One of our key partners in eastern Cuba--the pastor of a growing 800-member Baptist church--has asked us to pray. This congregation exists legally and is officially recognized. However, after making application to the government for permission to do some construction and renovations, authorities have decided to confiscate the building and rent it back to the denomination indefinitely. (Details in THIS ARTICLE.)
This pastor is asking us to join in concerted prayer with his congregation. Their theme is: "United in Christ for such a time as this,” and Philippians 1:27-29 is the focus of their prayers:
27 Whatever happens, conduct yourselves in a manner worthy of the gospel of Christ. Then, whether I come and see you or only hear about you in my absence, I will know that you stand firm in the one Spirit, striving together as one for the faith of the gospel 28 without being frightened in any way by those who oppose you. This is a sign to them that they will be destroyed, but that you will be saved—and that by God. 29 For it has been granted to you on behalf of Christ not only to believe in him, but also to suffer for him.
Grace Relief Team
Our partners in China have sent relief teams into Nepal.
These teams are on the ground and have been providing medical aid and helping with efforts to reach trapped victims. They are also distributing practical items (food, shelter, blankets). Pictured here is the Grace Relief Team. Please pray for these men and women who are exposing themselves to danger and disease to help the hurting in Nepal.
If you would like to support the relief teams our Chinese partners are sending into Nepal, DONATE HERE, and designate your gift to "China: Humanitarian Fund."
Here are some prayer requests our Chinese partners have forwarded to us from Nepal:1. For earthquake, landslide & avalanche victims & their families - that search & rescue operations will reach those buried alive.2. For areas with the swine flu to be contained with the added problem of an earthquake. For no outbreak of disease from exposed remains.3. For sufficient fuel for vehicles, tents to shelter from the rain, drinking water & food, & clean water for cooking & sanitation4. For electricity to be fully restored in all places so that communication can be fully restored, drinking water can be processed, and bank transactions for relief funds can be made.5. Strength for doctors, nurses & all medical personnel in treating the injured & that hospitals will have enough facilities & medicines including toilets to handle the masses6. Healing of trauma & strength for all involved including army personnel, relief workers & volunteers as many of them have lost loves ones or their homes themselves & are already traumatized.7. For Christians to be a good testimony & to be sensitive & led by God's Spirit in demonstrating Christ's compassion and care.
Also, remember to pray for the church in Nepal, as many worshipers were attending services at the time of the quake and were killed as church buildings collapsed on them. Pray that surviving believers will remain strong in their faith and be a powerful witness for Christ during this time of suffering.

Although the girls’ dormitory has undergone repairs from the termite damage Brian and Lawrence saw, termites will continue to be a problem. The girls living in the infested dormitory said the insects would drop from the walls and ceiling on top of them. Ugh! The only real way to solve the problem is to build cement structures to replace the current ones.
Meet Evelyn (83) and Katie (7)—two gems among our team of cherished thrift store volunteers. Both ladies donate their time at our Calgary location. Recently we asked them a few questions to find out why they choose to spend their time with us.What inspired you to volunteer at your local WorldServe Thrift store?Evelyn: I was bored at home. My neighbour took me to WorldServe because I told her I needed something to do. [Evelyn is pictured here with children’s dresses she made to send with a team from the store that visited our Cuban ministry partners this past Fall.]Katie: My grandpa and grandma and brothers worked at WorldServe, and I always wanted to help too. What do you like best/enjoy most about being part of the WorldServe Thrift team?Evelyn: Everyone is so friendly, and it’s a fun place to be.Katie: It’s fun to sort things with my grandma in the back and put prices on them. I like to see what comes into the store that is fun for other people to buy. What advice would you give anyone considering volunteering at WorldServe Thrift?Evelyn: The atmosphere is great. You feel at home here. Everyone is encouraging. New volunteers coming in are so friendly, and the store is clean and nice to shop in.Katie: It is very fun!Thank you, Evelyn and Katie!…And many thanks to each volunteer who gives of themselves to help us make a world of difference both locally and around the globe.
